Salon and spa

A salon sign is seen up close, in photos and in the mirror, so the finish matters as much as the light. Gold halo-lit letters are the most chosen: metal faces by day and a warm glow on the wall at night. For the street, trimless front-lit letters give a clean, lit name with no visible rim.

From idea to switch-on

  1. Pick the wall: behind the front desk or facing the door, smooth and light colored for the best halo.
  2. Measure the wall and take a straight-on photo with a tape measure in it.
  3. Send your logo file for a free drawing with your finish and a lit preview.
  4. Approve the finish, light color and size on the drawing.
  5. Mount the letters flush with the full-size template and plug in the adapter; add a dimmer for a small room.

Tip: Mirror gold reflects the room and shows fingerprints more; brushed gold reads warmer and softer. In a busy salon where people lean on the desk, brushed gold keeps looking clean for longer.

Questions

Gold halo-lit or mirror gold letters?

Gold halo-lit letters glow onto the wall at night and suit the wall behind the desk. Non-lit mirror gold letters need no power at all, but they reflect the room and show fingerprints, so they work best a little out of reach.

Will a halo sign be too bright in a small salon?

Halo light falls on the wall rather than straight at the eye, so it is softer than a lit face. If it still feels too bright in the evening, a dimmer with a remote lets you turn it down.

Does a halo sign work on any wall?

It looks best on a smooth, light wall, because the glow takes on the wall color and texture. On dark or rough walls the halo looks softer; tell us your wall color and the lit preview shows the effect.

Can I install a salon sign myself?

An indoor sign that plugs in is usually a do-it-yourself job: tape up the full-size template, drill, set the studs and press the letters on. A hard-wired outdoor sign must be connected by a licensed electrician.
