Mirror gold letters are non-lit dimensional letters in 304 stainless steel with a polished, titanium-coated gold finish. They shine like jewelry and reflect the room around them, which is exactly why salons, boutiques, hotels, reception walls and event backdrops use them. They are also sold as gold metal letters or gold stainless sign letters.

A mirror finish has no color of its own beyond the gold tone; it shows whatever it faces. Opposite a bright, light room, the letters look bright gold. Facing a dark wall, a window at night or a busy street, they look deeper and pick up those shapes. When you choose the wall, look at what will be in front of it, because that becomes part of the sign.

The same polish that makes the letters shine also shows fingerprints. Mount them where hands will not reach, such as above a reception desk or high on a feature wall, and clean them with a soft microfiber cloth. If the letters will be within reach or you want a softer look, brushed gold is available: a fine grain that reads warmer and hides marks better.

How they are built:

  • Face and returns in 304 stainless steel with a mirror gold (titanium-coated) finish, or brushed gold.
  • No lighting; depth set on the drawing.
  • Threaded studs on the back, mounted flush to the wall with the full-size paper template that comes with them.
  • Suitable indoors or outdoors.

At night, non-lit letters need light from elsewhere. A spotlight or wall washer aimed at mirror gold gives bright highlights along the edges. If you want the letters to glow on their own, look at our gold halo-lit letters instead; non-lit letters can only become lit letters by rebuilding.

Care is simple. Dust the letters, wipe them with a soft microfiber cloth and water with a drop of mild soap, then dry them with a second cloth. Abrasive pads, steel wool and harsh cleaners scratch or dull the coating.

Mirror gold costs a little more than plain brushed stainless. The price estimator on this page gives a range by letter height. How to choose

Stand where the sign will hang and look the other way: that view is what mirror gold will show. A bright room, a light wall or greenery opposite makes it glow; a dark wall or a window that is black at night makes it look deeper.

Then think about hands. Above a desk, high on a wall or behind a counter, mirror gold stays clean longer. At shoulder height in a busy hallway or on an event backdrop that gets moved, brushed gold is easier to live with.

If the sign has to stand out after dark, plan lighting on the wall or choose gold halo-lit letters instead. Send your text or logo, the wall size and a photo of the room, and the drawing shows the letters at real size.

Questions

Will fingerprints show on mirror gold?

Yes, a polished mirror shows every touch. Mount the letters out of reach where you can, and wipe them with a soft microfiber cloth. Brushed gold hides marks better.

Is it real gold?

No. It is a gold-colored titanium coating on 304 stainless steel, not solid or plated gold.

Why do the letters look darker on some walls?

A mirror finish shows what it faces. Opposite a bright room it looks bright gold; opposite a dark wall or a black window it looks deeper. Plan the wall with the view in mind.

Can mirror gold letters go outdoors?

Yes, they can be used indoors or outdoors. Outdoors they reflect the sky and the street, so they change through the day.

Can I light them later?

Only by rebuilding them as lit letters. If you want them to glow, choose gold halo-lit letters from the start, or light the wall with a spotlight.

Mirror gold or brushed gold?

Mirror gold is polished to reflect like jewelry and shows every fingerprint. Brushed gold has a fine grain that looks warmer and softer and hides marks. Choose mirror for walls out of reach and brushed for busy spots at hand height.

How do I clean mirror gold letters?

Dust them first, then wipe with a soft microfiber cloth dampened with water and a drop of mild soap, and dry with a second cloth. Avoid abrasive pads, steel wool and strong chemical cleaners, which can scratch or dull the coating.

Can they go on an event backdrop?

Yes, they are a popular choice for event backdrops. The letters mount on threaded studs, so the backdrop needs a solid board they can be fixed into. If the backdrop also needs to glow and there is no outlet, look at our battery halo letters.
