Before you pay for a sign, you should see it. Every quote we send comes with a free drawing, sometimes called a sign mockup or proof, that shows exactly what we will build and what it will cost.

The drawing includes:

  • Your logo or text redrawn to scale and placed on your wall, from your photo or from the wall size you give us.
  • A lit preview that shows the sign at night.
  • The sizes: overall width and height, letter heights and depth.
  • Materials and colors: 304 stainless steel returns, the face, the finish and the light color.
  • The mounting method, normally flush to the wall, or on a raceway if you asked for one.
  • The exact price for the sign as drawn.

Nothing is built until you approve the drawing. If something is not right, such as the size, a color or the spacing, say so before you approve and the drawing is updated.

To get one, send us:

  • Your logo file. Vector files (AI, EPS, SVG or PDF) are best; a large image works too.
  • The wall size, or a photo of the wall with a tape measure in view.
  • Where the sign goes and whether it is indoor or outdoor.
  • Any rules you already know about, such as a size limit from your landlord or city.

The drawing is also useful beyond the order. It shows your landlord or building manager exactly what will go on the facade, and it is the starting point if your city asks for permit drawings; our permit drawing package builds on it.

The price estimator gives a quick range before you ask. The drawing gives the exact number, and the letter height calculator and sign preview tool help you plan the size you request.

How to choose

The better the information you send, the closer the first drawing will be to what you want.

For the logo, send the original file from your designer if you have it. A vector file keeps every curve sharp at any size. A screenshot or a photo of an old sign also works; we redraw it, and the drawing shows any detail that had to be simplified.

For the wall, a straight-on daylight photo with a tape measure across the space is ideal. Note anything that limits the sign: windows, lights, an awning, a size limit in your lease.

If you are not sure which style to choose, tell us how far away people will read the sign from and whether you want it to glow on the face or around the letters.

Questions

Is the drawing really free?

Yes. It comes with every quote, and nothing is built or charged until you approve the drawing and pay.

What file should I send for my logo?

A vector file (AI, EPS, SVG or PDF) is best. If you only have an image, send the largest one you have and we redraw it.

I do not have a photo of the wall. Can I still get a drawing?

Yes. Send the width and height of the space and where the sign goes; a photo with a tape measure in view just makes the placement more accurate.

Can I ask for changes?

Yes. Tell us what to change before you approve, such as the size, a color or the spacing, and we send an updated drawing.

Can I use the drawing for my sign permit?

It shows your landlord and the city what you plan, but many cities ask for more detail. Our permit drawing package adds the sizes, sign area, mounting and electrical notes they usually want.
