These are halo-lit channel letters that do not need an outlet. Each letter is 304 stainless steel with a translucent acrylic back, the same build as our wired halo letters, but the LEDs run from a rechargeable battery pack and switch on and off with a remote. There is no wiring through the wall and no electrician. Some people search for them as wireless, cordless or battery-operated light-up letters.

That solves a common problem. Many walls cannot take a sign that is wired in: rented offices, shops in a lease, pop-up stores, event venues, hotel ballrooms and photo walls that come down after a weekend. Battery letters give you the glow of a halo-lit sign in all of those places.

By day they look like any of our halo letters, in brushed stainless, matte black, a painted color or gold. At night the light spreads on the wall around each letter. Warm white suits most interiors; white and neutral are also available.

The battery pack has to sit somewhere, and you choose where:

  • Behind a slim backer panel, so the letters and the pack mount as one piece and nothing shows.
  • On a thin lead, so the pack rests on a shelf, a desk or the floor nearby.

Run time depends on three things: how big the letters are, how bright they are set and how many hours a day they stay on. Because those change from sign to sign, we do not publish one run-time figure. Your drawing confirms the run time for your letters before you order, so you know how often to recharge.

Letters run from 4 in to 18 in tall in the price estimator; the battery pack and remote are included in the estimate. The letters mount flush to the wall with a full-size paper template and the mounting hardware. Installation is not included.

The battery pack charges over USB-C, so mount it or run its lead where you can reach it for charging.

Send your text or logo, the wall size and where the pack could sit, and tell us how many hours a day you want the sign on. We email a drawing with a lit preview, the run time and the exact price before production.

How to choose

Choose battery letters when wiring is not allowed or not worth it: a leased space, a short-term shop, a venue you decorate for one event, or a photo wall that travels. If the sign will stay on a wall with an outlet nearby for years, our plug-in halo letters are simpler to live with.

Think about hours. A sign switched on for a few evening hours goes many more days between charges than one left on all day, and smaller letters draw less power than large ones. Tell us your daily hours and we size the run time on the drawing.

Then decide where the pack sits. A backer panel hides it completely and keeps everything in one piece; a thin lead to a shelf is easier to reach for charging. Pick the finish and light color as for any halo sign.

Questions

How long does the battery last?

It depends on the letter size, the brightness and how many hours a day the letters are on, so we do not publish one figure. Your drawing confirms the run time for your letters.

Where does the battery pack go?

Either behind a slim backer panel, so the letters and the pack mount as one piece, or on a thin lead to a nearby shelf, desk or floor.

Do I need an electrician or an outlet?

No. The letters run from the rechargeable battery pack and switch on and off with the remote.

Are they good for rented spaces and events?

Yes. With no wiring in the wall they suit leased offices, pop-up shops, events and photo walls. The letters still mount flush with the paper template and hardware.

Which finishes are available?

Brushed stainless, matte black, painted to your color, or brushed or mirror gold, the same as our wired halo letters.

How do I recharge the battery?

The pack charges over USB-C. If it sits behind a backer panel, plan easy access to it; if it is on a thin lead, set it on a shelf or desk you can reach.

How big can battery letters be?

From 4 in to 18 in tall in the estimator. Larger letters draw more power and run fewer hours per charge, so for a big sign on a wall with an outlet nearby, plug-in halo letters are the better fit.

Will the halo show on any wall?

It shows best on a smooth, light wall. On dark, rough or patterned walls, or on a photo wall that travels, mount the letters on a slim backer panel, which also hides the battery pack.
